How to Set Up a SATA DVD Drive?
Expand your computer’s multimedia capabilities with a SATA DVD drive. Installing a SATA DVD drive is as simple as installing an IDE drive and should take you about the same amount of time. With just a screwdriver and a little bit of spare time, you can set up a SATA DVD drive on your computer

Instructions

Shut your computer down and disconnect all attached cables. With a screwdriver, remove all the screws securing the computer’s casing to its frame. Disengage any case latches your computer may have and slide the paneling of the case off the computer’s frame.

SATA Ports on a Motherboard.
RW DVD Drive
Connect 1of the black SATA power cable stemming from your power supply to the power port on the back of your DVD drive. Run a SATA data cable from a SATA port on your motherboard to the SATA data port on the back of your DVD drive.

Slide the DVD drive into the metal drive bay adjacent to the motherboard. Push out the small piece of case panel covering the front side of the empty bay to make way for the DVD writer. With the slot open, the DVD drive is accessible externally.

Secure the drive into the bay with the screws packaged with the drive. Replace the computer’s casing, screws and cables. Your DVD should be ready for immediate use after booting up your computer.
